Historic Lighting was founded in 2008 by Stanley Wilson.
Some of our products are from the past but we're not antique dealers. We supply new and old, side by side. Everything we sell is made in Britain or mainland Europe.
We work with designers, architects, artists and the general public - either as a regular shop or on a project basis. From small private houses to restaurants and major high street retailers, we can provide consultancy, design advice, samples - even new or modified products where necessary.
The Green Stuff (ie. the environment, not cash)
The biggest preventable causes of waste in the lighting industry are inferior design and a lack of durability, two facts that manufacturers are less-than-enthusiastic to bang on about. Too many lighting products break, wear out, outdate too quickly or just get 'found out' as being not up to the job, in short they are crap. This is not to mention the social and environmental consequences that come with being cheaply made in China, India and elsewhere beyond the reach of the employment standards that our forebears fought hard to establish.
Historic Lighting's products are designed and built to offer many years of reliable service. Never truly fashionable, never truly unfashionable, some of our products have already seen 50+ years of service and have the potential to last for ever.
Our products are manufactured in proper working conditions, in the UK/EU. You are welcome to come and look around our manufacturing locations, we can guarantee you will like what you see. We package using recycled paper, shredded newsprint and card. We don't use any polythene wrappings, packaging or tapes - so everything is easy and efficient to recycle.
